Elliptical Staircases

By definition the word Elliptical is derived from the oval shape known as an Ellipse. An elliptical is curved in shape but like an elongated circle rather than a perfect radius. This particular shape stairs is perfect for longer narrower spaces as opposed to the wider areas required for perfect circular stairs. Elliptical stairs have a beautiful flowing sweep which can be further enhanced by continuing the oval shape around the balcony.
One of our recent projects in Wimbledon London required 3 elliptical staircases stacked on top of each other going from Basement floor right up to Second floor. One of the fantastic features on these staircases was the continuous handrail design. The inside ellipse shape continued around the balcony on each floor by way of handrail, base rail & spindles connecting into the next stairs with a continuous flow.
